The Client Need:
As an established engineering firm, Allester Engineering was seeking to modernize their brand identity while drawing on a specific engineering force diagram that was important to the owner; Jeff Allester. The challenge was to create a visual system using these inspirations that would resonate with both engineering professionals and clients, while being scalable enough to act as a foundation for supporting future growth. The brand needed to reflect their reputation for innovative structural solutions while maintaining the approachability that set them apart.
Brand Essence Descriptors: Adaptable, “A”, Force Diagram, Building, Detail, Trust
*Work was initially contracted through employment at PBRV Consulting.
The Outcome:
The centerpiece of this brand refresh is the Allester “A” mark, an elegant synthesis of graphical elements from Jeff Allester’s engineering force diagram, cleverly suggesting a triangular structure from above in the shape of an “A”. This along with the word mark helps in establishing a visual connection between their story/history and positioning them as a reputable engineering company that cares about the details in everything they do.
Company Growth:
Deliverables:
This successful initial project has evolved into a trusted 10+ year partnership, where their growing brand family is supported. Deliverables include everything from business cards and site signs to a responsive website and comprehensive brand guidelines and print marketing materials. Social media was also taken into account, with graphic elements leading to a robust online following.
The work demonstrates how strategic design thinking can not only elevate an engineering firm’s presence but also help catalyze and act as a foundational system for significant business growth.
